Jon W. Hedgepeth

Jon W. Hedgepeth has practiced family law almost exclusively for more than 30 years. In addition to traditional family law, he is also a certified practitioner of collaborative law. Jon is a member of the Georgia Bar Family Law Section and the Atlanta Bar Association Family Law Section. He is also a past president of the Atlanta Bar Association Family Law Section.
Jon is recognized as one of Georgia Trend magazine’s “Legal Elite-Georgia’s Most Effective Lawyers,” consistently earns a “10-Superb” rating in Avvo.com, has been consistently listed as a Super Lawyer in Atlanta magazine (Top 100 for multiple years) and is named in Worth magazine as one of the Top 100 attorneys in the country, and he is included in “Best Lawyers" for 2021. He is a Master in the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inns of Court, a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and 1000 Lawyers for Justice.
Jon frequently lectures for Continuing Legal Education family law seminars and is recognized as an authority on prenuptial agreements in Georgia in the Supreme Court decision in Dove v. Dove, 285 Ga. 647 (2009).
A native Atlantan, Jon earned his B.A. degree from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and his J.D. degree from Mercer University. Early in his career, he founded Moran & Hedgepeth, a general practice law firm, and since has practiced in several exclusive family law firms in Atlanta. He partnered with Hannibal Heredia to form Hedgepeth & Heredia, LLC in 2006, which became Hedgepeth Heredia LLC in 2018. Jon is licensed to practice before State and Superior courts of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia, and the Supreme Court of Georgia.
He and his family are active members of Northside United Methodist Church. He participates in the Pro Bono Project of the State Bar of Georgia and he co-founded Second Saturdays, a community service utilizing therapists, mediators and certified divorce financial planners open to women who want to learn more about the process of divorce. His wife, Jane, is a practicing real estate attorney and they have two grown children.
